Limit 3rd Party Contractors to a Single Project

Deleted user November 25, 2020

Hi There,

We are having issues limiting access to a single project. It appears to be all or nothing. I have read lost of articles going back several years with similar people in similar situation, however, following the guides people have replied have been hard because of version changes and differences.

I believe the issue is the same and comes down to the default JIRA-USERS settings which allows the browse all permissions.

They suggest we need to remove this browse all permission from Jira Users and apply it to everyone separately. Unfortunately, as someone fairly new to atlassian, I need a step by step guide. could someone please help me in trying to achieve this please?

Many thanks in advance

Ryan,

Welcome to community.  Each project has a permission scheme.  The permission scheme provides access to the project.  You will need to do a few things.

1. Create a group for everyone on your team that you want to access all the project and add it to the default permission scheme.  You will also need to remove the Jira-Users from the default permission scheme.

2. You will need to create a new group for your contractors.  This will need to be added to the permission scheme on the projects that they need access to.  If the project shares a scheme you will need to create a new scheme for that project or they will be able to access the other projects.

3. You will need to update all permission schemes to remove jira-users so that they do not get access to the other projects.
