I have ordered a new license (xxxxx) to a self hosted jira install - but the Server ID listed in longer than expected? 'c38f8d10-af61-4dbc-9980-f7c7ed99f833' - can you advise?
The Server ID should not have that many characters in it. It should be 4 sets of 4 alphanumeric characters. The ID you posted looks like an Atlassian Cloud id. Did you happen to migrate from Cloud to Server at some point?
These products have different licenses, hence when you first install Jira Server, you should have had a unique 16 digit server ID to use in order to generate a new server license key. Did you restore the Cloud backup without applying a server license? Or did you find this server ID somehow through an existing Jira Cloud site?
I suspect that a Cloud to Server migration where you did not create/apply a server license before the restore could cause this kind of behavior. I would recommend walking through the steps in Changing Server ID for Test Installations. It explains how you can create a new temporary Jira Server installation and then grab the server ID from that and apply it to your existing installation. There is a note on that page that Server ID are used in application links, so to change this would break your existing application links. I would recommend removing and recreating any applications links you might have after changing this server ID on the server.
This was from a migration from Atlassian Cloud > Server - I will follow the steps in the guide - thanks for your help!
