Hello @Manoj

With native Jira functionality it is not possible to display a Kanban board and a Scrum board in one browser tab at the same time.

What problem are you trying to solve by doing that?

@Trudy Claspill hello, my experience is limited or started working with jira and it’s functionalities and I realised it’s not possible, somehow I was not able to convince my service owner about this ——With native Jira functionality it is not possible to display a Kanban board and a Scrum board in one browser tab at the same time.

he just don’t want to switch the boards to see daily updates/ progress hence it is been asked to have Both the boards one other below.

so that he can simply scroll the bar to see first as Kannan and then scrum board.

thanks

M

I'm not clear on the problem the user is asking to have solved by seeing two boards. Can you provide more information about why the user wants to have both a Scrum board and a Kanban board? Do they want to see the same issues in both types of boards, or are they trying to view different issues in these boards?

Hi @Manoj

Trust you are well.

If Jira issues are the same and workflows are the same ... so it's only a matter of Kanban/Scrum approach you can combine the two. Practically Sprints are just swimlanes on Kanban board. You can go to your Kanban board configuration and add swimlanes via queries and add JQL to outline couple of your active/future sprints.

You would still need Scrum board on the side to manage Sprints - create, complete, etc. But it will allow you to have Kanban and Scrum teams on the same board if you really want to,

With our Advanced Kanban App you can do it automatically - add Sprints as swimlanes and manage sprints directly fro, the swimlane. Though, it's available for Cloud only.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Yuri.

Hi @Yuri Lapin _Release Management_

As the original poster is using Jira Server (or Data Center), and the product you are recommending from your employer is only available for Jira Cloud, would you please clarify what you are suggesting?  Thank you.

Kind regards,
Bill

Hi @Bill Sheboy

Sure. If the idea to use single board for Kanban and Scrum Teams and presuming the workflows are the same you can do the following;

  • Go to Scrum Board and copy your active Sprint name
  • Go to issues search and type Sprint = "the name of the sprint". Intellisense will suggest you sprint ID. Remember that. You would need to do it let's say every 2 weeks when you kick off a new sprint
  • Go to Kanban board
  • Go to Settings and select Swimlanes by Queries
  • Add  <Name: Scrum, Value: Sprint=ID_you_got>
  • Add  another one <Name: Kanban, Value: Sprint=null>

So, now you have a single board for Scrum and Kanban teams presuming they share same workflow and have unified backlog (aka dev and ops teams).

I this is the objective ... you can do it. And Sprint is just a swimlane on Kanban board.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Yuri.

Thank you for clarifying the alternative you are suggesting as it seemed you were recommending the product and then stating it could not be used.
