Jira stories (agile) updated to standard jira stories no longer display any workflow steps, so they are in limbo. How can this be corrected?

I used the bulk update  to change stories from the (agile) type to the standard story. when viewing a story now I cannot see any way to progress the story through the workflow, eg setting from open to closed. 

The stories are effectively in limbo. How can I fix this?

What status did you map for them?  Could you try the integrity checker?
