Jira profile activity screen is showing a blank warning

Our user's activity stream on the user profile page, are all showing a blank warning above all user activity, see picture:
Clicking the little cog at the top right produces a blank dropdown with no additional information or options either.
Browser inspect does not produce anything useful and the atlassian-logs also do not show any useful information.
How should debugging begin to identify the cause of this problem?
