Jira does not email customer notifications/commends when reporter is changed

Those new to the Atlassian Community have posted less than three times. Give them a warm welcome!

Scenario:

  1. IT support staff member receive request from customer on personal email
  2. IT staff forwards to Jira Help Desk
  3. IT staff changes request Reporter from themselves to actual customer
  4. IT Staff member responds to the request
  5. The comment does not get sent to the customer via email

The same customer can email into Jira directly and get comments/updates sent to them.

How can I get Jira to email out notifications/updates where the reporter is changed?
