Jira cloud export function not working, items not visible in excel after download

I used the Export function from All Work items list view and after downloading, I opened the excel spreadsheet and it's blank. Zero item even though it says 100% complete. Perform the same in sandbox environment, and it worked fine and was able to view data. Not sure why this function is not working in production space. Anyone else experience this behavior? I appreciate any help, thanks.

Can you confirm the generated file is 0 kb in size?

Hello, thanks for your reply. Yes, the file is 0kb. Checked with our internal Admin and it appears that we have Atlassian Guard in place and that could be blocking. Thank you

I frequently use that feature and checked it just now, seems to be working on the cloud version of Jira. Are you noticing the same when you export as an HTML report? Do you have too much data that is exported out? I would try a smaller set.

All, thanks for all your suggestions. It appears that Atlassian Guard is blocking the export. Will discuss with internal team to resolve.

@Daemyian Watson If the problem persists and you need the Excel files immediately, I suggest you start a free trial with our Better Excel Exporter.

It is very easy to get started with, and if the problem gets fixed, you can return to your old way of working, unless you find our app more useful.

It probably comes down to the export format itself. If you're using the XLSX export for forms, it only grabs issues that actually have that specific form attached to them. If any tickets in your search results are missing the form, they get completely left out, which can make the whole export look empty.

If you just need a reliable dump of your broader search results, you're better off using the official Jira Excel add-in. It pulls data straight from a JQL query or a saved filter, so it won't skip issues just because they don't have a form linked to them.

You should be also able to download integration directly from Excel.
