Jira Software v Jira Core - do you need both?

We first acquired licences for Jira Software.  I was then looking for a broader Project Management software solution and noted Jira Core was advertised as doing this so I signed up for the free trial along side my Jira Software subscription.

However, it doesn't seem like anything is new?

Reading other support questions here it seems that Jira Software essentially includes all the functionality of Core (plus extra) and the only reason you would get both is to have some users that don't get access to the Software features?  Is this right?

I don't have that need (i.e. my team all work between software and non-software projects) so it would seem there is no benefit to me paying for both licences?

Hello,

You do not pay both licenses. If you buy Jira Software licenses, they already include Jira Core licenses.

Jira SW includes and is built on Jira Core so if you have SW you are good to go.
