Jira Software 7.8.0 search results

Dan Wall March 27, 2018

We upgraded to Jira Software 7.8.0 last month, and now one of users is having problems with copying the "Summary" from the Search Results. They said that they used to highlight the Summary and copy it to put in to an email or Word document that would copy the FULL URL to the issue. I have never tried this.

Today, and it's said to have started about a month ago, when you get the Search Results, when you try to highlight the Summary, it grabs the entire line for a drag-n-drop.

Is there a way to turn this off for Search Results?

I was told that has always worked liked this in Kanban display, but not in the Search Results Display. They don't want to break this with in the Kanban display.

Hello Dan!
This is Henrique from Atlassian Support and I'll be helping you with this request.

Thank you for contacting Atlassian Support. I’m happy to help you with your drag and drop question.

As it turns out, the drag and drop functionality in search results is a bug that was introduced in JIRA 7.6. This behavior was unintended and our dev team is currently looking into a resolution.

We have a report on this issue here:

In regards to a workaround, there is a workaround for the bug. I will outline it here for your convenience:

It is possible to disable the dragging of subtask through the use of a dark feature.

  1. Login to Jira as an administrator
  2. Navigate to $JIRAbaseURL /secure/SiteDarkFeatures!default.jspa
  3. add the value of  com.atlassian.jira.issuetable.draggable.disabled to the enable dark feature and click Add

However, this will prevent the dragging of these subtasks both on the issue details page and through the issue navigator.  Note:  In the issue, details view you will still see the up and down arrows that can be used to rearrange the order of these subtasks.

One last note, if you would like to follow the progress of the bug report, please feel free to add yourself as a watcher and vote on the issue using the link above. If you have more questions about our bug fixing policy, please review the following article: Bug Fixing Policy

Apologies for any inconvenience and I hope that the information that I have provided will be helpful. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions or concerns.
