After installing Jira Software behind an NGINX proxy server using the Linux bin installer and configuring the Database, Jira has multiple issues:

  • Can't access User Groups page (secure/admin/user/ViewGroup.jspa) - Give 500 Server Error. From the logs we have:

  • Can't create projects. It throws this error even after ensuring that the key name is all uppercase. E.g PROJ
Project keys must start with an uppercase letter, followed by one or more uppercase alphanumeric characters.

Figured it was because of the Nginx proxy server running on top of Jira. A thorough reading of these 2 articles related to running Jira behind a proxy server helped.
