Jira: Missing pulldown option for assignees

I have a few external folks who I need to keep contained within the scope of a specific project. I've created a group that they belong in, and then added that group to a project specific permission scheme that allows them to manage issues on that project.

The problem:

When trying to assign an issue to someone else, they do not see a pulldown list of users, nor does auto completion work (when typing in a name by hand).

Has anyone seen this? I suspect I've misconfigured something, somewhere.

I found my problem... in the permission scheme, I had not included that goup to be able to modify the reporter.

A little odd that this affected the assignee field... none the less, it resolved my issue.
