Jira Mails for completed tasks remain in the queue

IT-Support June 24, 2020

Dear Sir or Madam

if a task is completed in Jira, task creator must receive an email. But unfortunately these emails for completed tasks remain in the queue and are all sent after server restarts. So task creator suddenly gets a few hundred emails at once.
Could you please tell me what is the problem and what is the solution.
On the other hand it would be very good if you could tell me how I can define Jira queue limit and adjust it in icinga. Is there a Jira plugin for icinga?
I mean, for example, if there is more than 50 emails in Jira queue, icinga sends us a warning by email.

I thank you in advance for your answer
Best regards

Hello @Adriano D_Antona ,

Thanks for reaching out and when it comes to mail troubleshooting there are a lot of different things to check, and from the behavior you are describing it sounds like it lines up to what is described by another user in the following post where the mail service was hanging on a memory error, and a bump to the JVM memory fixed it in this case:

We also have the following KB article that I recomend checking out that goes through several troubleshooting steps to look into for mail troubleshooting:

Additionally, if the above options do not shed any light on the issues I recomend checking the logging for any explicit errors around the time frame that the mail service stops sending, and let us know what you find so we can take a closer look.

Regards,
Earl
