I created Jira Cloud integration to Slack and it doesn't seem to work when I query the status of an issue by using " [Project Name] - [Number of ticket] to the set channel.

  • It doesn't work for my colleague who HAS Jira account. Only he can't query that. Does he need to install anything or need to pay attention to anything?
  • It doesn't work for my colleagues who DON'T HAVE Jira account. Is there any way to let them use that query only?

Thank you.

Hi, welcome to the Community!

A connected Jira site needs to have a project subscription set as well in order for the issue key (e.g. ABC-123) to trigger the status message.

A good way to see if a Jira site is connected is by putting a full Jira issue URL into Slack. If the issue preview comes up, you're halfway there and only need to add a subscription for the specific project you want to be able to trigger with just the issue key.

You can see if a Jira project subscription is configured by typing the /jira manage command in your Slack channel. If there are no projects connected to the channel at all, you'll receive this message:

Click the "Connect a Project" button to get the project subscription set up.

If you don't want messages in the Slack channel to be triggered when new issues are created or issues are transitioned, you can simply Mute the channel subscription in Jira. That way, the issue previews still work but no extra notifications are sent to Slack.
