Jira Cloud for Slack - unable to remove or manage project notifications

Widerlani Campos

I recently got the Jira Cloud for Slack app installed in my Slack, and I accidentally added a project notification setting that I get notified about every single ticket created. I can't remove that in the Slack interface, and the "manage" button takes me to an error 404 page in Jira.

How can I remove these project notifications? I tried revoking my access and installing the app again, but my notification settings seem to be saved and won't go away. I tried re-adding the project to see if I could then manage to remove it, but now I just have the project duplicated in my notification settings.

I'm getting exactly the same issue myself, but I am an Administrator on the space.

Trying to delete notifications for a Slack channel seems not possible as the 404 page prohibits getting to the settings page.

So I'm having exactly the same issue.

Hi @Widerlani Campos ,

What do you see when you navigate to Space settings > Apps > Slack integration?

For the app you've mentioned, the docs are here, but they do not say much about troubleshooting.
Although you could use

/jira manage

within the specific channel where you configured it to see all connections.

One more thing worth checking - are you the project/space admin for that particular Jira space from which notifications are being sent? If not, that might be what's throwing an error. Also, it might be worth checking with Jira admin if they can remove the connection 👀

If nothing, you (or your Jira admin) could reach out to Atlassian Support and have them check in the background how this integration is configured and how you (or they) could remove it.

Cheers,
Tobi

Hi Tobi,

Thanks for the suggestion. But I am not an admin, so I can't get to Space settings.

Honestly, I didn't want to reach out to my Jira admin to solve this, for two reasons:

(1) I don't want to bother them with this unless there is no other option. I'd be telling them steps to take that other people are telling me, which could be wrong or lacking: I want to avoid this bothersome back and forth for something so silly;

(2) If I was able to add the project notifications myself, to *my* slack integration settings, on a personal level, why on Earth can't I remove or change it myself? This looks like a bug to me.

The /jira manage command does not do it, it just gives me a "manage" button that takes me to that error page (probably because I am not an admin - why do I need to be an admin to change this?).

I tried contacting support, but it tells me I can't contact them directly because our plan only allows Admins to open tickets directly with Atlassian. I have to resort to Community. Hopefully someone from Atlassian can take a look at this and help me.

Thanks for your response!

Widerlani

Hey @Widerlani Campos ,

As I'm really curious myself, I've asked someone from forum support to take a look at this. Particularly, it would be interesting to hear how non-admins can create this integration and not be able to remove it (if that's the case). Anyway, someone should reach out here within 2 business days 👀

Regarding this:

I don't want to bother them with this unless there is no other option. I'd be telling them steps to take that other people are telling me, which could be wrong or lacking: I want to avoid this bothersome back and forth for something so silly;

I get your point of view, but you would only ask them to raise a ticket, and then they can add you as a request participant to continue the discussion with the support team. All in all, they should also be able to check it out and potentially document this and maybe prevent this behavior in the future 🤔

Anyway, let's wait and see what official support has to say about this.

Hi @Tomislav Tobijas,

Thanks for escalating this! It's been a couple of weeks now with no response from forum support. Do you think someone is still going to look into it? 👀

Hey @Widerlani Campos ,

I can see it's still in pending status. I am not sure if someone will chime in or not :/

Any chance you can ask one of your admins to raise a ticket? They can also link this discussion, and they could add you as request participant so you can continue the discussion with support. This would probably be the fastest way to get help 👀
