Hi everyone,

We’re seeing a strange issue with app mentions in Jira Cloud comments and wanted to check if others are experiencing the same behavior.

We have a Jira app/bot (@TestMu AI) that users can mention in the comment section. Previously, the mention suggestions appeared immediately while typing @.

Now, on a fresh ticket:

  • The first attempt to type @TestMu AI does not show any suggestion/autocomplete.
  • If we try again on the same ticket/comment editor, the mention works correctly the second time.

This behavior is consistent across tickets and feels like the mention provider or app integration is only initializing after the first interaction.

Hi @Arkadiusz Wroblewski,

This is working when the app is already installed. However, on a new installation or after reinstalling the same version of the app, this feature is not working.

I checked the public status page and Jira is currently operational. The only recent incident involved Forge custom field deployments, which does not align with your app autocomplete symptoms. Since this behavior reliably occurs on the first attempt following an install or reinstall, it points toward a reproducible editor or app registration bug.

I recommend raising this directly with Atlassian Developer Support or the Developer Community. To get a fast resolution, provide them with a screen recording, your app framework type, and browser console or HAR logs capturing the network differences between that first failed attempt and the successful second one.

Same happening with our forge app as well. Is this a document behaviour from Jira side?
