Jira Cloud Migration Assistant support for JIRA 11

Running the latest JIRA LTS version.

We are currently exploring a migration to Jira Cloud.

It appears that the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant is not supported in JIRA 11. Given Atlassian’s strong push from Data Center to Cloud, we were surprised to discover this limitation.

Do you have any information on when support for JIRA 11 is expected?

@Ilia Shapira  Hi,

At the moment, Jira Cloud Migration Assistant does not support running directly on Jira 11 (Cloud Migration Assistant on Cloud migration from Jira 11 Data Center/Server) — the latest versions of the Migration Assistant released on the Atlassian Marketplace only list compatibility up to Jira Data Center and Server versions up to 10.7.4 and do not yet include support for version 11.0. This means if you’re on Jira 11, the Migration Assistant currently cannot be installed or used for migration to Jira Cloud. Atlassian has not published an official timeline for adding support for Jira 11 to the Cloud Migration Assistant, so the only practical option right now is to downgrade to a supported version, upgrade the Migration Assistant when support arrives, or use alternative migration methods (like XML/backup restore or CSV import) until official support is released.

If you want the official status of support in the future, check the Atlassian Cloud Migration Assistant compatibility page or the Marketplace version history, since Atlassian updates it when support for newer Jira versions is added.

On another post an Atlassian team member responded that the issue is being tracked here.

https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-79194

And a comment on that issue today says they are targeting to release a compatible version at the end of February.

Adding to this I recommend that you contact Atlassian directly through a support case to ask when JCMA will have a version supported on Jira 11.

It would be helpful to the community if you report back here what you learn from Atlassian.

Hello @Ilia Shapira

Did you try reaching out to Atlassian support to get an official answer to your question? If so, can you share what you learned?

@Ilia Shapira Is your ticket publicly available?  We'd be happy to join it and add our concerns to it as well.
