Jira Cloud - Filter on Comments Lacking Keyword

Deleted user March 3, 2020

I am currently trying to create a filter that shows me a list of Issues that do not have part of a keyword/phrase.

I've been trying out the JQL Advanced Search and reading other documents/articles on it, but, I appear to running into obstacles because the keyword/phrase I'm filtering on contains a reserved Jira character.

Currently, I have two filters:

Filter One).  project = 1 AND comment ~ "@QA"

Filter Two).  Filter != "Filter One" and comment !~ "@QA"

Theoretically, this looks like it should have worked, but it looks like my first filter is returning results for comments that don't contain "@QA", but rather "QA" without the @ symbol in front of it. I've tried using the \u0040, \\@, \\'@' and a few others, but it still shows me an Issue that has a comment that just has "QA" instead of "@QA".

Are there any better ways to approach this, or am I missing something?

Hello Richard,

I hope you are having a nice day.

The way that you are searching is correct! Unfortunately, at the moment, I believe that it is not possible to search for special characters using JQL.

Jira creates tokens when searching for text fields, and probably it is not finding the special characters on the database.

Currently, Atlassian has 2 bugs and 1 feature request related to this that you can check on the links below:

I strongly recommend watching, voting and leaving your comment there so the product managers can understand better how this is impacting you.

Additionally, you can open a support ticket with Atlassian so they can check on the database and ensure to you that the problem is really that.

You can click here to open a ticket with Atlassian.

I hope that I was properly able to help you, Richard.

Let me know if you need more help.

Cheers,

Carlos
