Jira Board view not showing all tickets

Tom Barton August 25, 2023

We have started using Jira - primarily in timeline view but when switching to board view a large amount of the tickets aren't visibile.

Many Thanks

Did you ever find a solution to this? I seem to have the same exact problem.

Hi there, I did find the answer for the issue I was having, was actually hidden within the wrokflow. Needed to go into Project Settings, then into Issue Types - here there will be a option to Edit Workflow.  Click on your affected status, and a panel should open on the right. This is where I found that the category was showing "Done", instead of what I was creating.

Hope this helps!

Keen to see resolution on this one, as exact same issue.

Hi @Tom Barton ,

often the reason for this is associated with the underlying filter for the board. Could you let me know if this is a company managed or team managed project. This is illustrated in the bottom left-hand corner of your project screen. If it is a company managed project, please select the ellipses in the upper right corner and go to board settings then general. In that screen, you should be able to locate the board filter and assess what issues might be excluded. Also, please provide more information about what issues are missing?

Tom Barton August 25, 2023

It's a team managed project.

If go to configure the board I can see the all ticket totals.

To Do has 6 visible on the board but in configure it shows the total of 15. it's the same for all the stages.

is the balance in backlog by chance?

Tom Barton August 25, 2023

Backlog is the same. See attached image of the difference.

can you click on Group By and select Subtask? Results?

Tom Barton August 25, 2023

Doesn't make a difference

ok. i was assuming maybe the missing issues were subtasks. can you run the following query in the "view all issues" JQL search screen...

project = xxx and status = "to do"

replace xxx with your project

Analyze the results to see what issues are missing from the board.

other question/thoughts:

  • ensure that there are no filters selected
  • ensure you have not selected one or more avatars (assignee)
  • check with colleagues to see if they see the same
Tom Barton August 25, 2023

No filters are selected

Not filtered by any assignee's

Multiple colleagues across my team and different teams see the same.

Our HR team also have the exact same issue.

Running the JQuery search returns the missing tasks. I used the "in progress" status on the below screen grabScreenshot 2023-08-25 at 15.57.13.png

ok so we need to understand what is different between an issue in the To Do status that is showing on the board and one in the same status that is not showing on the board. Can you share a screen shot of the detailed issue view for each issue?

Tom Barton August 30, 2023

Hi, here are two screen grabs

Top one is on the board and timeline view. The one below is only on timeline not on the board...
