Jira - Best Practices for handling post release work

Hi,

we are using Initiatives to group bigger projects, work is distributed into the children epics.

Now, once the initiative is released, we are setting the status of the initiative (and the implementation epics) to Done.

Often times, there is post release work that needs to be done throughout the following months after the release. We are discussing different options how to handle this in Jira, for example leave an open post release epic under the closed initiative.

I wanted to hear if there are any best practices, and/or how others are doing this?

We usually use a checklist to manage the post release activities and create Jira issues as needed basis. The checklist is located on confluence under project documentation.
