Jira Automation: Version Release -> update linkedissues

Jeroen van Kalsbeek

Hi all,

I currently have the following case.

In Jira Automation - I am looking for information how to create the following.

Upon the trigger: Version Release -> I would like to find a list of all Work Items included in the Version -> and update all linkedissues of link type = Development with a comment and transition.

I have currently set up below, but get the warning that the component may be incompatible.

Any tips?

HI @Jeroen van Kalsbeek

This can't be done in a single rule, this as you would need to branch within a branch and this is not possible.

See this post with the same requirement, https://community.atlassian.com/forums/Jira-questions/Automation-rule-to-edit-the-work-items-linked-to-the-work-items/qaq-p/3184356

This is because to go over each issue found in the lookup you need to branch over the items found in the lookup.

But then you can't branch again if an item branched over has indeed linked issues, then can't be a branch to edit those found itmes.

Hi @Marc -Devoteam-

Thanks for your reply. Checked the post (https://community.atlassian.com/forums/Jira-questions/Automation-rule-to-edit-the-work-items-linked-to-the-work-items/qaq-p/3184356 )
but encounter some issues.

The branch by JQL does not exsist in my Jira instance (Cloud), so I am unsure how to set this up. Any ideas?
