Jira Admin Certification (Newer Org Admin)

I’m a new Jira Org Admin and interested in beginning the Atlassian certification process. I’ve reviewed the certification overview at this link, but I’m finding it a bit unclear which certification is best to start with.

The following certifications seem relevant to my role: ACP-120, ACP-420, ACP-520, and ACP-620. Could you please advise:

  1. Is there a recommended starting point for someone new to Org Admin responsibilities?
  2. Does the numbering of the certifications (e.g., 120 vs. 620) reflect increasing levels of difficulty or progression?

Any guidance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards

Hello @James Arthur

First, I would recommend to gain as much more as practical experience as possible. People wouldn't really care less if you cannot solve their problem and have all of the certifications. Sure, you will be more valuable on the job market with both opportunities and salary negotiations.

In general ACP-120 is the most recognizable certification for Jira admins. Personally, I don't believe that the order matters. If you feel you are lacking knowledge in some of the fields like JSM, challenge yourself, go for 420. If it's for lacking the knowledge in reports, go for 620.

Hi @James Arthur ,

For Org admin the correct certification is ACP-120. For Jira project admin is the ACP-620.

It's true that a certification requires real working experience before to take it, but it's true also that studying for a certification you can learn a lot.

My suggestion is to review the syllabus available in Atlassian University and then going through trying exam questions with Udemy course available.

I hope it helps

Hi @James Arthur

It's nice to see people wanting to learn more:

As an org admin, you might find it useful to start with https://community.atlassian.com/learning/certifications/atlassian-cloud-foundations, especially since this covers Atlassian Cloud subscriptions and user management

After that just work through the others in any order, probably just as they are useful to your work.

And the numbering doesn't indicate increasing difficulty, it's probably just in the order they were created, with x20 meaning it's an associate certification
