Hi guys,
Our instance of on premise Jira has been up and running just fine for a long time.
We are not able to add watchers using the bubble on the ticket page. The bubble does not autosearch, not does it recognise when you type in a username and press enter.
I (administrator) and other users are able to manually add watchers to tickets using the more -> watchers -> Add. You can also select "start watching this issue" successfully.
Is there a reason this does not work?

What version of JIRA Server are you running?
Did the functionality work at sometime in the past, but no longer works now? If so, what has changed in the interim?
We are running on prem server version 8.13.0
After submitting this ticket, it appears to be working now. The things I did (which I don't think helped) are:
Add myself to the Jira-Developers Group (this is a project access group)
Add a user to be a project administrator on 1 particular project board
You can close the ticket for now.
