Hi,
Following the merge of two companies, I need to move JIRA users from two active directories to a new one.
This procedure looks interesting :
But I don't find "Migrate users from one directory to another." (step 4) in my "User directories" screen ?
Is it because I am using an old version of Jira (7.11.1) ?
What does "This option will not appear if there are no valid directories to migrate from/to" mean in step 5 ?
Thanks for your help.
Olivier
Hi @Olivier DAMON ,
the message "This option will not appear if there are no valid directories to migrate from/to" means that you need to have both Active Directories already configured in Jira in order to perform the migration. This option is useful if you don't already have the user accounts in the new merged AD
Otherwise, the simplest way is to have all user accounts created by your IT department in the new AD and simply point to this new AD in Jira.
Let me know if this helps,

Thanks for your answer. The user accounts have already been created in the target AD, but using a different rule to define the name.
Should we just point to the new AD already filled with all the users, we would lose all the links the users have with issues isnt'it ?
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
In this case you will need to make sure the Unique Identifier is set to the same value on both AD (can be an email address or something else that both AD have set to the same value).
You can have a look at the following KB for more information : https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/modifying-ldap-username-or-samaccountname-creates-a-new-user-account-in-jira-server-826875550.html
I would advise setting up a test environment to make sure that your migration won't lose any data and that all user accounts are properly moved over to the new AD.

Tha,ks for your help. We will use as recommanded a Unique Identifier et try it on a test environment.
