We are using Jira 4.4.4 on-premise server which work on Java 6, currently nearly all email service provider stopped support of TLS 1.0 & TLS 1.1 and Jira 4.4.4 doesn't support TLS 1.2 hence we are unable to receive email notification being sent from Jira server related to projects and tickets. Is there any way to enable the TLS 1.2 support on Jira 4.4.4?

If we update Java version to 8, Is Jira 4.4.4 compatible with it?

Please advise...

Jira 4.4 is pretty old and not supported any more since quite a while. Therefore, I guess that it's easier and makes more sense to upgrade to a current version than to try to get TLS 1.2 working in the old one.

I suggest that you export your Jira 4.4 data (Jira Adminstration > System > Import and Export), then try an in-place upgrade with the new version. If that doesn't work, you can fall back to importing the exported data into the new version, which should always work.

Of course, make sure that you completely backup your old installation before your start.

Hi @Nikunj Diwan ,

That Jira version is quite old and no longer supported. You can try different Java version. Just be sure you can revert if it doesn't work.

If possible, it would be better to upgrade your Jira to latest LTS.
