JIRA workflow "To Do" vs "Open"

JIRA workflow "To Do" vs "Open"

I have the simple issue tracker workflow in my project and as such my starting status is "To Do" and the next step is "In Progress". I tried to setup a notification for Work Started on Issue but no notifications are sent. I noticed that this event looks for an Open status to move to in progress. How do I acheive this in the simple workflow which uses the status "To Do" ? Thanks

Answer accepted

you need to look at what event is being triggered in the post functions. You need to have your notification scheme setup to notify for the event being triggered or change the event.
