JIRA loses the project context in a number of cases

There are a number of cases in which I'm working on a specific project in JIRA, but JIRA loses that project context because of some actions.

For instance when I want to release a software version after a Spring I do the following:

  1. Active sprints
  2. Complete sprint
  3. Within Sprint Report -> View in Issue Navigator (now my project context is gone)
  4. Then I bulk change the issues and set them to the new release version

Then I want to continue working in the project, but the project context is gone. I need to do the following to get back to the project:

  1. Hit back within issues and filters
  2. Select projects
  3. Select my project again

Obviously this should not be necessary and I should be able to continue working on the project without these 3 steps. I think I also encountered some other cases that made me lose my project context, but I can't recall them now.

Apart from this issue the release version procedure is very cumbersome and I know that somewhere in the past I could just "Release" the sprint as a version, which did not require the manual bulk update action.

P.S.

I tried to create an issue for this but I got a message that I do not have the right permissions:

URL: https://jira.atlassian.com/projects/JRACLOUD/issues

Message: User xx doesn't have the 'Assign Issues' permission
