JIRA doesn't come up when machine is rebooted

Hi,

I have an on prem version of JIRA. The server it is on gets rebooted every week for updates (e.g. windows service packs, updates, etc). The server and and JIRA service restarts fine, but when someone access jira the first time, they get the following error:

JiraRebootError.jpg

I would have to manually restart the server to get it to work. We tried increasing the RAM,  setting Datlassian.plugins.enable.wait=900 and setting the startmode to delayed automatic restart. It worked for about 2 weeks, but it started happening again.

I was wondering if there is something else I could look into to resolve this problem? Would I be able to setup alerts that send emails to me if something happens? Thanks!

Sincerely,

Jason

@Jason Yeung

You are taking the proper steps to resolve the issue.  I am wondering if there is something else happening here.  Usually the apps not starting is a resource issue.  If you have ensured that your server is sized properly https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/jira-server-sizing-guide-975033809.html and that you have optimized your DB connections https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/tuning-database-connections-938846864.html and your server https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/server-optimization-938847889.html then you need to start looking at other factors.

Here are a couple of questions:

  • Is your DB and Jira instance hosted on the same server?
  • Is your Jira instance hosted on a VM?
