JIRA dates displayed wrong in russian localization

Good day!

In russian localization pop-up text for dates is displayed wrong, as I understood it is about cyrillic text in date.

For example, creation date is 28/апр/17 5:03 PM ("апр" it is april), but in pop-up it shown like this "28/апр/17 5:03 PM"

As a workaround I changed date format in Look and feel, from "dd/MMM/yy h:mm a" to "dd/MM/yy h:mm a", but I want to know, is it a bug or is it my fault and I configured something wrong.

*UPD*

System encoding is "Cp1251",  may be problem is in this encoding. I haven't checked yet

JIRA version is 7.2.7

Screen is in the attachment:

Hi Denis,

Can you confirm your Jira version? It looks to be like an issue reported in Cloud:

If that is not your version, then please let me know so I can report the problem as well for that.

Regards,

Shannon

Hi @Shannon S thank you for answer

We use JIRA 7.2.7

Steps to reproduce this are same (I would add, that date format in Look and field has to have something like dd/MMM/yy or something similar):

  1. Go to Your Profile name.atlassian.net/secure/ViewProfile.jspa
  2. Edit Preference
  3. Select language Russian and Update
  4. Open an issue
  5. Hover over the field that shows the created/updated date of the issue.

Hi Denis,

Thank you!

It seems this issue affects all versions of Jira, including Cloud. I tested on 7.2.7 and the newest 7.9.1 and other languages as well, such as Korean, Japanese, and Chinese. The problem persists.

I was able to find quite a few bugs that report the issue, but I think this one is more accurate since it mentions the problem with non-English languages:

Please feel free to vote on the bug to show the number of users who are affected by the problem. I've included your current version there as well as the newest so the devs know the scope of the issue.

Let me know if you have any questions about this, but there doesn't appear to be a known workaround at this time.

Regards,

Shannon
