JIRA burn down chart showing future dates outside sprint

Anil K October 3, 2018

I have a sprint scheduled from 24 Sept to 12 Oct (3 weeks). Till yesterday (2 Oct); everything was going smooth, and we were monitoring the sprint using the burndown chart normally. Suddenly today morning, we found the burndown chart started showing dates till 24 Oct, and it also shows a straight line indicating remaining work.

We have done no changes in the project set up. I have done an integrity check, and also did a re-indexing for the project as well as at entire JIRA level. But no changes.

Interestingly, this issue is happening only for one project in JIRA, and other 6 projects are working perfectly fine as expected.

Any suggestions on what is wrong and how to resolve this?

After checking all details, I noticed that one of our developers had logged work, and while doing that he had inadvertently updated the work start date to a future date (24 Oct) in the log work screen. This has caused the issue. Once we corrected the worklog, the burndown chart became normal. Anyone who faces similar issue may want to check on this.

I am not sure why the system doesn't have a check that work can't be logged for a future date.

Hi,

is there a way to check the mail or work start date? And are you referring to user story start date or sub tasks start date?
