Hi,
Does anyone have some expericence using the JIRA SAML SSO by Microsoft? When I read through the guide (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/saas-apps/jiramicrosoft-tutorial) it states at the end:
"To enable Azure AD users to sign in to JIRA on-premises server, they must be provisioned into JIRA SAML SSO by Microsoft. For JIRA SAML SSO by Microsoft, provisioning is a manual task."
Does this mean that I have to manually create users in Jira? Or would my LDAP-sync do the job?

Hi Mattias,
you are correct the Microsoft Plugin can only authenticate existing Users.
Which is one of the reasons why many customers who tried it end up using one of the other marketplace Plugins like our: SAML Single Sign On (SSO) Jira, SAML/SSO. Our Plugin does provide a component to synchronise Users from Azure AD.
In this case you can synchronise and authenticate the Users with the same plugin, with full enterprise level support from us.
We have also recently spun off the provisioning part of our plugin into a separate marketplace listing which you find here: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1219399/user-directory-sync-jira?hosting=server&tab=overview
This enables you to use the Microsoft Plugin for authentication and our User Sync for Provisioning, should that be your preference.
As per your LDAP Question, I have so far not heard anyone using the premium LDAP virtual service in Azure AD for this.
Cheers,
Christian
Full disclosure I work for resolution GmbH, a marketplace Vendor
