We are currently working on upgrading our servers to windows 2012/SQL Server 2014.  We are planning to upgrade to JIRA 6.3.  Our question is can we run the database for JIRA on 1 server running SQL Server 2014 (Server x) and have the front end of JIRA run on another server (Server Y)?

If so, can you point me in the right direction to documentation I can look at regarding installing this type of situation.

Thanks,

Carolyn

Yes.  JIRA doesn't care where the database is (as long as the network link is fast and stable enough)

2014 is not yet fully supported, but I'd expect it to be the same as 2012 at this point - see https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Connecting+JIRA+to+SQL+Server+2012
