JIRA 4.0 + Firefox with java disabled

Shyam Shyam October 3, 2011

Dear users, admins.

There is a news in the web that JAVA plugins will be disabled on the firefox browsers due to security issues.

Will this have any impact on JIRA 4.0?

Mostly, no. Firefox is the client and (mostly) doesn't run any java when using Jira. There's a lot of html, javascript and so-on running, but no java on the client side.

I've said "mostly" though, because the Screenshot facility is something that downloads and runs on the client, and that is java. Having said that, it is not a firefox plugin, so you may still be ok.
