Hi everyone,
I'm hoping someone can help me or escalate this to an Atlassian employee.
I was originally on the Jira Free plan (10 users) on my site. Without my knowledge, some users added themselves to the site, which pushed the user count above 10. Atlassian automatically upgraded my site to a Premium trial. I did not realize this had happened because of the extra users.
When the trial ended, Atlassian tried to charge me automatically. Since I had no billing details on file (because I never intentionally signed up for Premium), the payment failed, and the subscription was cancelled.
Whenever I try to add Jira Free to my site, I get this error:
> *"We're having trouble adding Jira. This usually happens because a workspace is behind on payments."*
The system is blocking even the Free plan because of the old, cancelled Premium subscription.
What I've already tried:
- Cleared cache and cookies, re-logged in
- Checked billing at admin.atlassian.com → shows no invoices, no active subscriptions
- Tried reactivating via my.atlassian.com → only offers Premium for $183/month
- Tried adding Jira Free via atlassian.com/software/jira/free → same error
- Reduced users from 12 to 10 to comply with Free plan limits
Please can someone from Atlassian manually clear the payment block on my site so I can activate Jira Free. All my project data is still within the 60-day recovery window.
Can an Atlassian employee please look into this? Thank you!
