What: Tickets disappear from the project's boards and backlog
When: switching the Field Configuration to another configuration (by editing the value in the Field Configuration Scheme space). EVEN WHEN replacing existing configuration with its own replica!
Note: I am still able to search for the tickets with the previous filters, and their statuses haven't changed. But they disappear from the project tabs (boards, backlog, etc.)
How can I change the field configuration and have existing boards and backlog showing tickets?
I am not 100% on why this is happening but can you confirm in your board settings that the correct status' are mapped to the correct columns? And if so, just make sure that the backlog is enabled as well?

The statuses were mapping appropriately indeed.
Only a few minutes ago I finally realized what was happening! A sub-filter for a board was blocking the tickets, and I suspect it was added automatically (it was also added to other boards as I was creating them to debug the issue)... once I emptied the sub-filter, that is found in project -> ... -> board settings -> general -> sub-filter, it worked. Spent WAY too many hours on this...
