Issue with assigning to future sprint on Complete Sprint.

When completing a sprint and selecting that unresolved issues be assigned to a future sprint does future sprint have to be active?

Do all the issues to be reassigned need to be part of the board you are completing sprints on? It doesn't seem like this would be the issue as it indicates the correct number of issues to be handled.

My last two sprints that I have completed and selected the future sprint - the sprint does not actually get assigned. I have had to manually go through the issues and add the new sprint. Would bulk edit but that wipes out the old history of past sprints.

No it doesn’t need to be active nor would you want it to be active IMO as that equates to churn. When you completed the sprint was the next sprint defined/created in the backlog? If not, before completing a sprint, create the next sprint then all incomplete should appear in the top-most sprint in the backlog rather than in the backlog section itself.

It was created. I was able to select it on the dropdown when completing the sprint. We are not in the most recent version of JIRA maybe it is something that was a bug in the earlier version. We are planning an upgrade I will wait to see if it works properly after upgrade.
