Issue with Jira slack integration

Adeline Ndacyayisenga

Hello, I recently worked on the jira slack integration, for our team to receive updates when bugs/defect tickets are created on our board. However, I noticed an issue, now when someone types a jira ticket number in our channel, the Jira app sends a notification preview of that whole ticket. We don't want this.

How can I turn this off? I played around and couldn't find a way to turn it off.

Hi @Adeline Ndacyayisenga

In Addition to what @Andy Rusnak

This is actually coming from Slack’s link unfurling feature, not your Jira notification rule.

So, if someone is typing an issue key like ABC-123, the Jira app will auto-expand this as a preview of the issue.

There is no way to properly toggle this off inside Jira. The solution is to fix this on the Slack end:Go to the channel where you want to stop link previews -> Settings -> disable link previews/unfurling. Alternatively, you can get your Slack admin to do this at the workspace level

Hi @Adeline Ndacyayisenga ,

Thanks for using Atlassian Community!  If you want to disable the Jira Previews, within the Slack channel I believe you should be able to enter

/jira unfurl

The unfurl command is the functionality that shows the preview as per this documentation. It is on be default, but I believe that running it again should disable it in that channel or provide you with the option to disable it in that channel.

Would you be able to give that a try?

Best,

Andy

Thank you so much; I will go ahead and try that!
