Hello Community -
I've been trying to find out why the Issue Type list field doesn't show the title—it shows the icon, and if I hover over it, the title shows as a tip. I tried changing the names of the issues to test if that made a difference, etc., but it didn't make a difference.
The Issue Type seems to be showing up correctly everywhere else. I tried to log out and clear my cookies as well. Different browsers, etc.. I don't see any settings that would make it hidden or anything like that.
Hi @Leonardo Alcantar , indeed that is the behavior as implemented. I have not seen any configuration option.
welcome to the community!
Just to add to the previous answers: If you're looking for an immediate resolution and are open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, you may want to have a look at the app that my team and I are working on, JXL for Jira.
JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a range of advanced features - including support for (configurable) issue hierarchies, issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting - and works across any number of projects.
Plus, you can easily view the issue type name, like so:
Any questions just let me know,
Best,

The only workaround is a bit tedious. If you really want to see the Issue name, you would need to create a custom field, then have a workflow validator populate it with the issue name after creation (Can also do this via automation these days). Then configure your list to display your new custom field.
Been a while since I had to do this, and I don't think it's really worth the effort, however sometimes there is a requirement, would be nice if this was a built in option.
