Issue Embedding Links In Jira (Server/Data Center) comments

Those new to the Atlassian Community have posted less than three times. Give them a warm welcome!
This is what I get when I highlight some text and then click on the Links button and choose External Links:

Note that I am in "Visual".
The workaround that I have been using is going to Text, highlight the text I want to use for the embed, and then use the Links button. Then I edit the example URL to fit what I need.
Either that or simply just posting the link without highlighting and embedding it in other text works too.
Is anyone else having this problem? Or is it a bug?
