Hi,
since the new Jira update the work item Issue-Detail-Dialog (popup screen) is missing.
This leads to less usability.
The user want to navigate in the list hierarchy and by clicking on the work item, the workitem opens in the tab. After clicking "back" to the list, the list hierarchy is closed and the navigation is lost.
Is there a the possibilty to get this feature back?
BR
Hi @Franz Wengler ,
Thanks for bringing this up — you're definitely not alone in noticing this change!
So, what happened..?
With the latest Jira update, the old popup window that used to appear when you clicked on an issue in a list is gone. Before, you could click on any work item, see its details in a quick popup, close it, and continue right where you left off in your list. Now, clicking on an issue takes you to a completely new page. And when you hit "Back," your list resets — all the folders and sub-items you had expanded are collapsed again, which is really frustrating.
What can you do for now..?
While there's no way to bring back the old popup yet, here are a few tricks that can help:
Right-click and open in a new tab (or hold Ctrl/Cmd while clicking). This way, your list stays exactly as it was in the original tab.
Try pressing the "T" key — in some views like the Board or Backlog, this opens a side panel where you can see issue details without leaving the list. It's not available everywhere yet, though.
Use "J" and "K" keys on your keyboard to move up and down through issues without navigating away.
Can you get the old popup back..?
Unfortunately, not right now. There's no setting or toggle to turn it back on.
If anything looks wrong or incorrect, please let me know the correct version.
