I would like to have severals issue type with the type "epic", but it seems impossible to have another one than the default one.

Is there anyway to do it ?

Thanks in advance for your answers

Hey, welcome to the community.

No, Epics are a special issue type. Even if you create a new issue type in the hierarchy (assuming you're on Jira Premium), it will not act like an Epic.

I'm not aware of any way to bypass this, even with addons.

If you have Jira premium you can add more types at the same level (so you can use them as super-epics, or objects above epic), but they're still not Epic.

BTW - Epics are changing in Jira Cloud at the moment, so some things about them (Epic Status for example) are about to change.

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

If you go to Premium, you get "Advanced Roadmaps", which lets you create issue types of many layers alongside and above epics, as well as renaming Epic and have it work the same.
