Is there any way to add default groups when new users are created?

Hello!

For the invitation and creation of new users on Jira Software/Confluence, is there any way to set a group of default groups that the users are added to?

Hi @Will Canalizo and welcome,

Yes there is a way to set your default groups per application. You can read more here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/managing-groups-938847035.html

hey Alex! ty for the quick response, I'm not seeing on that article how to assign custom groups for new users, our org uses several internal groups that are assigned by default, is there any way to assign groups that aren't created by Jira initially?

  • Go to cog > user management  > group
  • Create a group
  • Go to product access (left side menu)
  • Go to the product you want to add this group (e.g. Jira software) and add your newly created group
  • Right click on the ellipsis menu of your group
  • And click Make this group defaults
  • Remove from default the old one if you wantdefaultgroup.png
