Is there any configuration available in Jira Cloud to add-up sub-tasks' estimate in a Story?

I have used a work-around to display aggregate values under backlog and active sprint boards via Board Settings -> Card layout -> Choose 'Σ Original Estimate' /'Σ Time Spent'/ 'Σ Remaining Estimate'

However, when I open the Story, it does not show the aggregate numbers via Time Tracking.

Need someone from Atlassian to comment on it.

This functionality is available in Jira Server.

Hello @Vinay Sharma

Thank you for reaching out. I'm a support engineer from Atlassian Community support.

Per your description, I understand that when you click in a specific parent issue in a board, the right panel with the issue details does not provide you with the sum of the sub-tasks estimation related to that parent issue. Have I understood it correctly?

At this time, Jira Cloud application is configured with a new issue layout by default, which is still a lab feature that we are working to get fully implemented. In fact, the new issue layout does not render the sum of sub-task estimation as the old layout does, so we created the following task and bug with our development team to get it implemented/fixed:

Sub-tasks no longer have their time tracked on the parent issue for the new Full View Issue experience

New JIRA Issue View don't roll up the time tracking of subtasks to its parent from the board view

Feel free to vote and watch the task and the bug to increase its priority and also receive notifications about its fix implementation.

For now, you can work around it by using one of the following approaches:

1. Turn off the New JIRA Issue Layout, by clicking in your profile picture in the bottom left-corner > Settings  > Turn-off the lab feature at the bottom of your Personal Settings

2. View the time estimation from the board itself where it shows the time estimate in the cards

3. Use filter navigator where you can add the column (Original time estimate) to view the total time estimation for the issue

Let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks Petter,!

I have a question, while using the 1st option suggested above by turning off the lab feature, Is it a global setting that would change the view for entire instance - all users or it changes individual's view only for all the projects?

Thanks,

Vinay Sharma

Hello @Vinay Sharma

That lab feature of the New issue view is an individual setting, only applied to your profile. That being said, only your user will be affected if you turn off that setting.

In case other users must have the same old view, ask them to perform the same steps to turn off the new issue view.
