I know that JIRA comes with an in built lapsed time report from the time of a new issue being created to being resolved. In the case of my instance resolved equals either "rejected" or "done". So for rejected I know how long it took to determine to reject the issue. However for done it is not as clear as there could be a delay in allocating a resource to investigate the issue. What I would like to be able to do is to determine the time for an Issues to go from New to Approved and from Approved to Done to help identify where a potential bottleneck is. So I was wondering if there was another "status" I could use that would create this time stamp in the extract file or if this can be achieved with the existing reporting. Thanks
Hi @Brad Rutledge 👋
For solving your problem you can calculate the cycle and lead time.
Cycle time refers to the time it takes for an action to complete from start to finish.
Lead time covers the time between receiving a request for an action (not the start of work) and the completion of that action.
Here is an illustration if you want to understand the difference better.
You have the ability to choose statuses which you want to be included in a cycle or lead time depending on your workflow with Time in Status for Jira Cloud (developed by my team).
For this you should

If you prefer to use a marketplace app, you can try Status Time Reports app developed by our team. It mainly provides reports and gadgets based on how much time passed in each status.
You can use cycle time (the time it takes for the team to start working on an issue and complete it) and lead time (the time interval between the moment an issue is requested to the moment it is completed) reports to get what you need.
Here is the online demo link, you can see it in action and try without installing the app. You can have a look at Cycle Time for Each Issue report, Lead Time for Each Issue report as examples.
For more detail, you can have a look at Cycle Time and Lead Time in Jira: Productivity Measurement with Two Critical Parameters article and Status Time Reports How to Videos.
If you are looking for a completely free solution, you can try the limited version Status Time Free.
Hope it helps.

Hi @Mehmet A _Bloompeak_ Thanks for the response. Unfortunately our systems are locked down so I cannot download anything from the marketplace. I have raised an internal query on this to see if there is anything internally.
