Is there an impact to completed tasks/stories/epics when deleting a Jira software board?

Can I still search for them in the global search?  I realize they are hanging out in the "ether" as they are not tethered to a board any longer, but I want to make sure they are still searchable.

Hi @Alicia Hood

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Yes, you can still search the work items normally. What shows up on a board is determined by the filter (JQL) of that board, so if you want to look up those exact same items you can use the same JQL. But either way, all items are still searchable.

Kind regards,

Ana

Hello @Alicia Hood

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

Are you working with a board for a Team Managed project or a Company Managed project? Is it for a Software project, Business project, or Service Management project? Get that information from the Type column on the View All Projects page under the Projects menu.

Generally speaking a board is just a way to view issues. The issues are not contained in the board. The issues exist within Projects. As long as you don't delete the Project then the issues continue to exist.

If you are using a scrum board and delete it, then the related Sprints information may be lost.
