Is there a way to turn off emails from JIRA Cloud for a migration test?

Kevin Price February 20, 2024

We need to turn off emails for JIRA Cloud so that our users will not receive any notifications when we test and do the migration. How do we do this?

Hello @Kevin Price

Yes, there is.

Click the gear icon and select System.

Find the Outgoing Mail option.

Disable it.

Note that only applies to Notifications. There are some activities that don't respect this setting. Refer to

Thanks Trudy, one more question: can we have Cloud outbound off while leaving our JIRA server on or do we have to have them both off?

You're talking about during the migration?

There is no requirement to turn off notifications on your self-hosted instance while the migration process runs. The migration process doesn't do anything that generates notifications.

If you have created a replica self-hosted instance that your are using for your test migrations, with a copy of your production data, you may want to disable email on the replica (outgoing and incoming) to avoid confusing your end user, and inadvertently processing incoming emails that should only be processed by your production self-hosted instance.
