I would like to remove projects from my project list that are closed but still retain the history.  As an admin I see everything so I cant even hide them.  I was thinking about changing them from software to business when closed so that I can at least filter them out.   Appreciate any thoughts.

Hi Maria,

Welcome to the Atlassian Community.

Are you using Jira Cloud or Server? Server will be getting project archiving in the Jira 8 release which was announced during the Jira state of the union at this year's Atlassian Summit (this is already available for Jira Data Center).

The way I have done it so far is to have a project category called inactive that I add all unused projects to, and I also change the permission scheme to one that only allows Jira admins to see the project. That way "normal" Jira users will not see these projects. If needed you can always make them available again by changing the permission scheme.

We are cloud based.  Thanks for your help.  I was just coming across that category field and was looking into that so that is what I will do.  Thank you again.
