Is there a way for a JIRA record to automatically add a label/flag if a date is missed?

I track the life cycle of a deliverable in JIRA. For example, Work Product-001 has an initial submission date, comments due date, resubmission date and client approval date. These dates coincide with our project plans. So if I create a new deliverable in JIRA and then I transition the Work Product on time according to the submission date, but the comments due date is missed. How can I automatically add a flag or label to that record for reporting to call out a late item?

Hi Alex, you should be able to do this using Automation. I would likely run a daily scheduled rule that checks each of your dates to see if they are greater than the current date and if so add a label, comment or other alert. you could consider simply issuing an email as well.
