Is there a plan to support REST API v3 and in particular the Atlassian Document Format in the self-hosted Jira Server which currently only supports the v2 API?

I could find no mention of it in the Jira Server 8.x notes.

Hello Duncan and welcome to the Community!

The Jira Server API is currently version 2. Jira Cloud does have a v3 of the API but it is presently Beta. I would keep reviewing the release notes of the product as that is the most likely place any mention of a v3 of the API would be found. You may find the release notes for the current product at Jira Software release notes. Along with information on the early access program at Jira Software Early Access Program Downloads.

I opened a support call. The reply included:

Looking at our internal documentation on ADF in relation with our server products.

I found this line from one of our senior developers from Jan 07, 2019

"Currently ADF is not used anywhere in Jira Server, and it seems unlikely that Server will adopt ADF within the near future."

So looks like REST API v3 and ADF not coming to Jira Server any time soon.
