Is it possible to set up a validator on a parent issue that checks the child issues aswell?

I'm investigating if it is possible set up a validator, or similar, to check whether a time estimate has been added (this is was able to do).

However, if I add a child issue with a time estimate to the parent issue I would like the validator to pass the check.

Is there a method to set this up?

Within native Jira, I don't think this is currently possible.  However I believe that you could use a 3rd party plugin like Adaptavist's Scriptrunner in order to create a scripted validator.   While I have not done this personally for a validator, I did do something very similar using Scriptrunner for a workflow condition in this thread: Atlassian Community - Condition depending on Parent Issue Customfield Value
