Is it possible to "hide" / "close" a projet (not archive it)

Hello,

I read a lot of message from people wanting to close or hide project.

the answer to them has been the "archive" of a project.

But my problem is that I don't want to archive a project because the project could be still used by other people.

But currently I'm dealing with other projects so I don't want to be bothered by a list of 30 projects that I don't work currently with (but later why not)

+ it could take a lot of time for user and take a lot of ressource in the infra if my filters, reports, graph, always look by default to all projects whereas I don't care about some project (for the moment).

my example is eclipse. I have a workspace with several project and I can close some of them. This way during a search these project are no more active for me and the search is quicker.

is there such a feature in jira ? I don't want to ask an admin to add or remove right for me because as you may know in big companies it could be a painfull process :)

Hi @ribas ,

Welcome to the community !!

Projects are displayed to the users based on their roles setup in permission scheme. To hide/close a project, I would suggest you to update the permission scheme attached to the project.

i.e. Create a new permission scheme, add only required users/groups/role to browse project permission. You can do same for different permissions like edit, comment etc.

thanks but this is painfull to do because for instance : 30 projects managed but 30 different admins.

I have to deal with several people to modify rights on the projects whereas I still need to be able to access them at any time.

I just want to hide them temporary to have better performance during my search for instance.

Hi @ribas ,

You have 3 options

  1. Archive project / Issues
  2. Change permission scheme of projects.
  3. Remove users from the groups/roles which grant the access to the project.

thanks for your answer. what would be the process to ask for an enhancement "eclipse-like" to be able to close/hide a project on my personnal space. (I don't want to close or hide the project for all other users)

@ribas ,

Remove yourself from the project roles.

thanks could you please give me more details about this ? I could myself remove me from the project roles ?

without asking an admin to do this ?

and then also, I can add myselft to the project role, again without asking admin ?

No, Only Project admins or Jira system admins can grant/revoke access

ok so if I need a way to "close" a projet but still keep the access so that I could open the project when I need, what would be the process to ask for an enhancement ?
